Historical moment for Whangarei District Council

As Mayor of Whangarei, today has been an historical moment for Whangarei District Council.

- Elected members agree to have a relationship with the Poroti hapu in relation to accessing water for the growing Whangarei District.

- Elected members approved a working relationship with Parua Bay Community to build a Skate Park for that area. No extra costs for Council.

- Elected members agreed to work with the Forum North trust to develop the possible new Theatre (still a lot of work to be done).

- All Three Councils Kaipara, Whangarei and Far North agreed to present the proposed Water Services Plan for Northland to Central Government. This means that Water and Wastewater are planned to be in Northland CCO, and Storm water is planned to be within the respective Council. Which in turn could be savings for those not on Water and Wastewater in the Whangarei District.
