Putting Whangarei First
Over the past three years, I've focused on strengthening Whangarei's infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and making council more transparent and accessible. I've worked hard to ensure decisions are made locally with the best interests of our people and future generations in mind.
Under my leadership Council has made solid progress across key areas, from transport and infrastructure to environmental protection and community well being. I'm committed to continuing this momentum and delivering real results for every part of our district.
Being fully accessible to the public has always been my mantra, along with open communication, responsible leadership, and a shared vision of putting our people first. With your support, I'll keep working to build a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for our people.
I'm honoured to stand for a second term as Mayor, and proud of what we've achieved together. I'm committed to keep Whangarei moving forward: stronger, smarter, united.
My Commitments - The Next Three Years
Over the past three years, we’ve made real progress for Whangārei — and there’s more to do.
Improving Infrastructure
Increased investment to address years of under-maintenance and advocated for major national projects, including the four-lane expressway, rail line extension, and Whangārei Base Hospital rebuild — all on track to start next year.
Customer-Focused Council
Raised Whangārei’s profile, addressed community concerns, and improved the way Council connects by getting teams out into the community, attending events, and meeting people where they are.
Strengthening City Safe
Upgraded service levels, encouraged more Police presence, and increased CBD cleaning to make our city centre safer and more welcoming.
Enhancing the Economy
Invested in Northland Inc with other councils, created a Council Controlled Trading Organisation to manage property and drive developments, partnered with local suppliers, and increased the use of local contractors.
Focusing on Regional Opportunities
Worked with neighboring councils through Local Waters Done Well (Chair), the Northland Mayoral Forum (Chair), and Civil Defence to ensure Whangārei’s voice is heard and Northland’s future is planned together.

What I Believe
Whangarei is a beautiful district. Wherever you live in the District, it is special. We need to protect what is special about our district, grow our infrastructure and tackle those issues affecting all our lives. My vision is one of working together, where the council supports and empowers communities and businesses, who it turns ensure Whangarei is the place to live and work.
